The Festival of Trees is put on by the University Hospital Foundation and has been going for over 30 years. They have raised over 18 million dollars for special projects. This year the funding will go towards a special Stroke ambulance to get emergency stroke care to people who do not live near a large hospital. The Northern Alberta WoodCarvers Association has been involved for many years (a guess would be 8-10 years) by decorating a tree with carved wooden ornaments. There are usually between 120 to 180 ornaments on the tree. There is a Festival of Trees Website with lots of information available. There is a gala dinner at which they have an auction where the trees are auctioned off. The public can see the trees at the Shaw Confrence Centre November 24 to 27. This is a worthwhile cause and needs our support!
